Job Description
You will lead DIT’s Content and Digital Team, a highly specialised capability responsible for content production, design and social media strategy.
- You will be responsible for both the day-to-day operation and strategic planning of DIT’s digital output, managing and developing a team of specialists.
- You will report directly into a newly-created role of Deputy Director for Digital, Data and Design, working alongside a fellow G6 head of insight in bringing together two existing teams as part of a new unit.
- You will be a key point of contact for officials across DIT, in the Cabinet Office and Downing Street, a key member of the Communication and Marketing senior leadership team, and highly visible to Ministers, spads and senior leaders within the department.

Job description
- This role is central to almost all areas of comms activity at DIT, around the Government’s and the Secretary of State’s objectives.
- It is at the heart of delivery on ministerial priorities, on shaping the public debate on free and fair trade and on exports promotion and helping to bring to life the export opportunities there are for British businesses.
- The Content and Digital Team steer all elements of digital output either directly or indirectly – including reactive comms, ministerial output, and proactive comms in line with the Comms & Marketing Directorate’s strategic framework.
- The team produces high-quality digital output for business and public audiences, monitors and manages trade debates on social media and provides strategic advice and assets for international network channels, events, industrial sector teams at DIT, as well as GREAT and Cabinet Office campaigns.
- You will work in lockstep with fellow G6 team leaders to align and maximize the impact of news output, digital content, stakeholder engagement and narrative formation.
You will also work to source compelling case studies of businesses to tell the story of how trade, exports and inward investment changes lives for the better – using all our channels to maximise their impact.
The role will be based in either Cardiff, London. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.
Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London salary.
DIT will cover travel costs/expenses to any office which is not your usual office location in line with departmental expenses policy. DIT will not cover commuting costs to your agreed office location.
Appointments will be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences.
