Job Description
What you’ll do:
Group Finance is a business function that plays a vital role in keeping Lloyds Banking Group safe, successful and sustainable while supporting the Group’s vision to be the best bank for customers. We manage all aspects of finance for the group, enabling the business to make better financial decisions.
Banking is a risky business – in finance we quantify risk using analytical techniques and modelling software and we explain it in plain English to key decision makers. We are also responsible for meeting our statutory and regulatory requirements. That’s quite a responsibility, given that we’re one of Britain’s largest banks and the largest provider of digital financial products in the UK.
You’ll enjoy placements across Group Finance (all based in Leeds) where you’ll gain experience in one of our divisions who are responsible for reconciling, analysing and reporting on key data and results for Lloyds Banking Group. The role provides an excellent opportunity to build core finance skills and gain experience across a number of teams through a mixture of formal learning and on-the-job training.
About the programme & what you’ll learn:
Starting in September 2023, we’ll support your study for a fully funded professional qualification – Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Level 4 Apprenticeship. We’ll also support you in achieving the Level 7 CIMA qualification, which will deepen your understanding of finance and mean you’ll end the scheme as a fully qualified management accountant - a combined study time of around 4 to 5 years.
In each of your placements, you’ll be aligned to the appropriate qualification stage - everything you learn will be relevant and readily applicable in your day-to-day role.
Whilst on the apprenticeship scheme around 20% of your time will be dedicated to ‘Mandatory Apprenticeship Hours’, which can include attending workshops, shadowing, reading, completing assignments etc. This means 80% of your role is applying your learning in the workplace, in a safe environment.
Please note – as part of this role you’ll be expected to work from the office as and when required by the business.
The apprenticeship scheme will give you insight into our entire business. Our central role offers a unique perspective on how Lloyds Banking Group functions as a whole and how our business areas operate across the organisation. This added exposure can be a valuable stepping stone towards senior leadership positions in the future.
By the end of this programme, you’ll have a clear path for progression within Lloyds Banking Group and a firm understanding of your strengths and career goals.
Entry requirements:
We expect you to be motivated, ambitious and committed to your own development. In particular, you’ll be keen to get to grips with financial systems and processes.
Please note - these can include predicted grades.
Application Process:
After completing your initial application, you’ll be required to complete an online test, Job Insight assessment, and if successful, attend an assessment centre. We’ll let you know as soon as we can if you have been successful at each stage.
What you’ll get in return:
Starting salary:
We offer a competitive package which includes salary, bonus (performance related), a generous pension contribution, an attractive path of progression and flex cash to spend on a host of benefits to suit your lifestyle. We have a long track record in flexible working and we’re always open to new ways to improve our people’s work-life balance, therefore open to discussion on working patterns and working hours. The role offers a hybrid of home and office working meaning you must be able to travel to our Lovell Park office in Leeds.
