Job Title and Grade: Patrol Officer, Grade 4

Contract: Permanent, Full-time.

Hours: 36 hours per week (Annualised hours, please see general information)

Salary: £23,793.00 – £25,458.00 per annum including a 10% shift allowance

Department/Section: Estate Management Section

Responsible to: Head of Security & Campus Safety

Reports on a day to day basis to: Campus Security Supervisor

Purpose of job: To provide a flexible approach to the role and undertake a wide range of safety, welfare, security, physical Intervention, first-aid and car parking duties both within the University Campus and externally to University-owned and administered properties.

Duties of the Post:

The duties of the post, some of which will require physical effort such as standing for long periods, patrolling, climbing stairs, wearing PPE and stabproof vests etc. will include the following:

Information Centre

Residents Welfare

Personal and Physical Security

Emergency Response

General

These duties are a guide to the work that the post holder will initially be required to undertake. They may be changed from time to time to meet changing circumstances.

General information

This will be on an annualised hour’s basis equating to 1877 hour per annum. You will be required to work set shifts of 8.5 hours. The shift times are:

06.00hrs-14.30hrs

14.00hrs-22.30hrs

22.00hrs-06.30hrs

But on occasions this may vary.

On average you will be rostered for 18 shifts a month, however this may flex up, or down, dependant on the needs of the business.

The majority of shifts will be rostered 4 weeks in advance, however some may be rostered at short notice, but no less than 24 hours’ notice will be given.
