We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join as our Front of House Assistant, working primarily within our Cafe.
The Living Rainforest is a vibrant education centre which provides learning opportunities and training as well as a friendly, sociable, working atmosphere. This is a full time role, working 5 out of 7 where needed.

Job Purpose:
To work primarily in our café, also covering shop and public entrance where required ensuring both the front and back of house areas are kept to appropriate standards of health & hygiene, food safety and health & Safety. In addition to serving customers and providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Serving customers within our café area
- Preparation of cold and hot food items
- Cleaning all areas of the café including clearing tables, crockery, kitchen equipment and floors, ensuring good health and safety practices.
- Removal of waste products and rubbish from all areas of the café, shop, entrance & children’s play area as per guidelines
- Maintain a clean working environment by ensuring regular cleaning of all work surfaces, equipment, storerooms and ancillary areas.
- Ensure Health & Hygiene standards are met and exceeded in both the shop & café. Including compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations such as food handling, storage, temperature control and personal hygiene.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and a professional approach, and follow good practice within all Front of House areas.
- To assist if required with end of day cashing up and associated administration, ensuring that all till operations are carried out in accordance with TLR policies and procedures.
- Where required, to assist with stock preparation and presentation; ensuring that the shop and café are sufficiently stocked at all times including stock rotation.
Required skills and experience:
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
- The ability to communicate in a friendly & effective manner with all staff and customers.
- Flexible with working hours – some evenings and weekends are required
- Existing experience working within a café environment is very desirable
- Health and Hygiene qualification also desirable and any catering qualification would be a big advantage
- An understanding of health and hygiene legislation pertaining to shop & café
