BBC Scotland Newsgathering provides content for all our news platforms delivering stories, copy, pictures, video and audio
We are now recruiting a Senior Journalist to work as a News Organiser in our Glasgow newsroom. Responsibilities include providing content for our digital platforms, TV and Radio programmes; helping plan our daily news diary; deploying staff and making efficient use of available resources.
Main Responsibilities
You will coordinate coverage of breaking news, deliver content for all our platforms, chase running stories, showcase the best Newsgathering journalism and roll out planned diary events. You will assign reporters, correspondents, camera crews and broadcast vehicles with all the support they need to do their job on the road.
You will work closely with output teams and editors, ensuring that Newsgathering delivers engaging and authoritative journalism.
The role will involve working shift patterns including early shifts and weekends
Are you the right candidate?
Are you a fanatical planner who is fascinated by news?. We are looking for a candidate who is overflowing with ideas and can identify original journalism that will resonate with our audiences. You should have demonstrable experience in news and proven ability in producing news stories for tv, radio and digital outlets. You should have a sound knowledge of Scotland, its institutions and government along with awareness of BBC Scotlands’ News outlets.

Contract: Fixed Term contract (6 Months)
Location: Glasgow
You are eligible to apply for an internal role if you are either on a BBC Continuing (Permanent) contract, a BBC Fixed Term contract, a casual contract or freelance contract and you have worked continuously for 6 months.
Only internal staff are eligible to apply for the role on an attachment basis. You need to be on a continuing (permanent) or fixed-term contract. You need to have worked for the BBC for more than one year and will also need permission from your line manager. You can find out more on our attachments page.
