The primary function of the Packing department is to Package the bulk product produced in-house by the Manufacturing Department, through 5 various Packing lines.
The role operates on a permanent late shift 13:45 – 22:15 Monday – Thursday & 13:45 – 21:15 Friday.

Supporting the Packing Team Leader, the role of the Packing Deputy Team Leader is to provide leadership, management and support to a large team to ensure the timely packing of bulk product for the business and as per the delivery schedules.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Packing Deputy Team Leader plays a key role in the development and delivery of the Supply Chain contract to ensure packing targets are met and to drive compliance within safety, quality and sustainability in a highly regulated environment.
How you will contribute
Packing:
Assist with the management of the Packing department by utilising all assets effectively and efficiently to achieve the daily/weekly production schedule. Ensure the plan is agreed and delivered each week focussing on quality and safety. Work with the teams to resolve unforeseen issues that occur.
Review and continually improve the upon the success of the department. Drive continuous improvement (CI) activities through understanding of capabilities of equipment and teams coupled with advances in manufacturing techniques.
Embed and operate a “right first time” culture by assisting to deliver agreed Global Efficiency (GE) targets and associated activities; including timely and accurate paperwork completion.
Fulfil any reasonable request from the Packing Team Leader, in accordance with any applicable business processes and procedures, to meet the needs of the business.
People Management:
Assist with the management of teams to drive compliance, identify improvement opportunities and provide a premium manufacturing service. Through skills planning, identify training and development needs for the teams to ensure the most effective and efficient lean team is in place.
Forecast labour/ head count and flag issues to the Packing Team Leader to enable the department to operate flexibly to cover absence, attendance and holidays.
Compliance
Ensure that products are manufactured in compliance with the requirements of EU Rules & Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Distributors (Orange Guide).
Ensure the team adhere to the company Quality, Safety and Environmental systems, policies and procedures and complete risk assessments for all new or ad hoc tasks collaborating with the Health and Safety team.
Carry out investigations to understand the “Root Cause” of issues.
Deputise for the Packing Team Leader in their absence.

Business KPIs (Production / Packing):
- Schedule Adherence & Global Efficiency – control and improve GE rate within Packing department.
- Packing Documentation - Ensure batch documentation completion is timely and accurate. Decrease the number of substandard documentation issues
- Quality – Decrease “Non Conformance” issues. Investigate and provide resolution to prevent/ decrease repeat occurrence
- Training – Ensure department is fully trained. Ensure associated documentation is valid and up-to-date
- Key Audits – ensure Packing is well prepared for key audits, understands, meets or exceeds the standards expected
- Labour Variance – Control business performance within labour variance, identify & deliver cost improvement
What you will bring
A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career. You will bring experience and knowledge in:
- Knowledge of Manufacturing systems OR fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacture/distribution
- Good PC Literacy
- 1 years experience of leading teams; ideally within a Manufacture or FMCG environment
- Handling challenging interpersonal situations tactfully
- Influencing people in a union environment
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and good attention to detail

Travel requirements: You will be based at our site in Crediton (nr. Exeter) and will need to be prepared to commute.
Work schedule: The role operates on a permanent late shift 13:45 – 22:15 Monday – Thursday & 13:45 – 21:15 Friday.

Salary: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
