Portering services deal with the total logistical movement of patients so a good level of reading, writing and communication and good customer service experience is essential due to dealing with patients, relatives and clinical staff within this role other elements of the job include deceased patient movement, bloods, specimens, medical gases, incoming goods, food, waste movement and postal duties.
There may be also times where you would be expected to work at another site carrying out your duties if required.
A clean Driving licence for driving duties on site and off site is desirable based on the candidates experience. All of the above and more would be carried out by the successful candidate.
Shift coverage is everything around a 24 hour clock due to the high demands of the service and coverage over bank holidays weekends would be frequent and required from the successful candidate, so we are looking for someone who can be flexible. Full uniform is provided.
There is currently no provision for parking on site unless paid for on a daily basis. How you would be able to attend the shifts required would need to be considered for the needs of the service.
Shift coverage start times will be from 06.00-14.00, 14.00-22.00, 22.00-06.00. 18.00-02.00 .These times are just some examples expected from the successful candidate to cover.
