An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us as at our Bright Bar site in Rotherham as a Mechanical Shift Team Leader.
As the Shift Team Leader - Mechanical, you will be expected, trained and supported to interrogate and fault find on all the equipment and systems we have in house, to identify solutions to the problems which arise and to implement these with your team to ensure our continuous production schedules are met. You will also be asked to lead and manage a multi-functional shift engineering team supporting the departments Shift Management team (Production and Engineering) to ensure Safety, Quality and Production Plans are all met. The opportunity to pursue academic and non-vocational managerial qualifications to support the role is also available and encouraged.
To coordinate with and, where required supervise the activities of other services and contractors including the undertaking the administration of the companies Permit systems, danger notices and all other relevant safe working procedures.
To actively attend management meetings and prepare reports to the requirements of the department.

What we are looking for in you joining us is
In addition to the responsibilities associated with being an operating, “Hands-On” member of the team, the Mechanical Team Leader will require the following skills & knowledge:
- Time served individual educated to a minimum C&G level 2 in a technical or engineering based discipline.
- Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance in a heavy industrial environment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge (understand and follow schematic drawings)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Understand and undertake welding techniques and practices
- Able to undertake working at height practices
- Proactively work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Requires good understanding of isolation procedures
- Have experience of adhering to SWP’s
- Awareness and ability to carry out risk assessments / identify hazards
- Able to lead and support a team in both a team working environment and self-direction
- Ability to support mentoring new members of the department
