We have an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Director looking to join our well-established team here at Copeland Vets, Stockton on Tees. At Copeland vets we offer a varied caseload allowing our vets access to surgical cases every day, we also strongly believe in case continuity, ensuring you can see things through for your patients from start to finish. You will be responsible for leading our small and dedicated team. Day-to-day duties include overseeing the general running of the Practice. Management duties will involve working in tandem with the Practice Director, Practice Manager, Area Director, and Area Support Manager along with a substantial amount of clinical work time operating and consulting. Mentoring and coaching less experienced Veterinary Surgeons is an important part of the role and something you must be willing to embrace. Due to the support available, it would be a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their veterinary management career.
It is important to us that you are happy at work but equally important to us to provide you with a work-life balance, so we work a 4-day week between the hours of 8:30 am and 7 pm, with 1:4 Saturday mornings working from 8 am – 12 pm. There are no OOH requirements.
The salary for this role is up to £80,000 depending on experience. We can also offer a welcome bonus of up to £10,000 with additional relocation support of up to £5,000.
At Copeland Vets, we are a single site well-equipped family-friendly practice with staff who love learning and teaching. Our award-winning facilities are fully equipped with digital x-ray, orthopaedic kit, dental suite, doppler ultrasound, endoscope, PRP and Stem Cell Therapy equipment.
Sharing all our knowledge is something we love to do, your opinion and input matter to us. We say our practice is like a patchwork quilt, everyone has a piece to bring to create the full picture, from the cleaner to receptionists to the Management Team to you, everyone has importance and value in different shapes and sizes. We live and breathe our unique team approach, and we thrive with that ethos.
We are conveniently located near the beautiful North York Moors, Captain cooks monument, Roseberry topping and the Cleveland hills, a beautiful coastline with the best beaches and fish & chips. We are situated in the middle of Ingleby Barwick which is Europe’s largest private housing estate. There are lots of local restaurants to eat out at, and there’s the Globe Theatre a grade 2 Art Deco Playhouse which plays host to comedians, musical theatre, and bands. We also have access to great train links direct to Edinburgh, Newcastle, York, Leeds & London.
We're currently a 2-vet team one of which is in the final stages of securing a certificate in medicine, we also have 6 qualified registered veterinary nurses and additional support staff. We're a happy bunch and are actively encouraged to pursue our own areas of interest. CPD is encouraged and will always be funded for those wishing to expand their knowledge and skills.
We are looking for someone who will continue making the practice a pleasant working environment as this is just as important to us as clinical skills. Ideally, we would like the candidate to have some management or Clinical Director experience, but the role may suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to step up and learn the skills needed for a Clinical Director. You must be confident in clinical matters encountered in a small animal general practice and can lead and support the team, both clinical and non-clinical, and still have the enthusiasm and energy to help the practice and staff progress and flourish. A desire to be involved in the development and growth of the practice is vital. We have available enrolment on the IVC Evidensia Leadership Development Programme if this would be advantageous.
