The School of Computing and Digital Technology is seeking a Lecturer in Computing to join the Department of Digital Transformation at a key stage of its growth. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing success of the department, its staff, and students. The Department works closely with industry partners and aims to provide students with outstanding practical experience through industry-focused, research-led provision, extending flipped learning to create innovative learning experiences.
The successful candidate will be part of the teaching team delivering modules at foundation year, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, depending upon experience. The focus of teaching will be on a selection of the following courses: BSc (Hons) Business Information Technology, BSc (Hons) Computing Information Technology, BSc Computing Top-Up, Foundation Year in Computing, and MSc Digital Transformation. They will have research expertise in digital transformation and will contribute to the work of the socio-technical systems research group.
Candidates should have practical industry experience in one or more of the following areas:

DevOps and cloud computing

Enterprise systems

Web and mobile technologies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and delivery of teaching and assessment at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels

Setting and supervising student projects, ideally in collaboration with industry

Delivery of training and consultancy in industry

Seeking and developing industry partnerships

Production and dissemination of research outputs

Academic administration
-
Pastoral support of students

Recruitment and outreach activities
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
-
Have computing experience in an industry context.
-
Hold a PhD in a relevant area, or equivalent qualification or a Masters level qualification with extensive practical industry experience.

Have experience of teaching and assessing student work.

Have published or presented their research externally
Desirable:
-
Hold and have knowledge of professional IT certification
-
Have membership of a professional body (such as the BCS or IET) and professional registration (such as CITP, CEng or IEng)

Hold an appropriate teaching qualification, or be accredited via the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education

Have experience in developing research funding proposals

Have experience of higher education quality and administration processes
The Department of Digital Transformation has strong relationships with commercial partners and the successful candidate will need to be able to work effectively across industry-academic teams.
