JOB TITLE Hospitality & Events Team Member (permanent)
HOURS Various Shifts Available – mainly Monday-Thursday 4-10pm & Saturdays 9am-6pm; contracts up to 30 hours per week to be agreed on starting
LOCATION Friends’ Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, M2 5NS
(Post holder may be asked to work at other locations occasionally)

SALARY £10.90 per hour
LINE MANAGEMENT Report to Facilities Manager
ANNUAL LEAVE 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)
PENSION 7% employer contribution (min. 1% employee contribution)
JOB PURPOSE & OVERVIEW:
Our business is hiring out meeting rooms and conferencing facilities, following an ethical business model. Our main site is in the centre of Manchester (Mount Street) and we have four other, smaller, venues.
The main roles of a Hospitality & Events Team Member are to:
- set up furniture in rooms to meet customer requirements
- prepare hot drinks and deliver them to meeting rooms
- set out pre-prepared buffets for customers
- set up audio-visual equipment for customers
- deliver customers’ stored items to meeting rooms
- welcome customers and offer high quality customer service at all times
- clear away furniture, catering & equipment
- wash up items used in catering
- basic cleaning & tidying
- assist with administration of bookings
KEY TASKS and JOB ACTIVITIES:
Setting Up
- At the start of each shift, check the diary sheets and set up chairs & tables in all rooms according to the layouts requested
- Set up any equipment pre-ordered by customers
- For customers with stored items, deliver these to the meeting room
- Check each room before the customers arrive, ensuring it is clean & tidy with everything in place
Welcoming & Customer Service:
- Be the friendly, welcoming face of the organisation; on evenings & Saturdays, act as first point of contact for customers & visitors
- Be part of the customer focused culture within the organisation, where we endeavour to say ‘yes’ and find appropriate solutions for the customer
- Help customers operate the AV equipment when needed
Catering Service:
- Prepare trays of pre-ordered hot drinks
- Deliver these to meeting rooms at the agreed times
- Set out pre-prepared buffets at the agreed times
Clearing, Cleaning & Tidying:
- At the end of the meeting, rearrange furniture in the rooms for use by the next group
- Clear away all catering items after use, wash them up & put them away
- At the end of the meeting, empty bins in the meeting rooms
- At the end of the shift, ensure the kitchen is left clean & tidy and put bin bags out for collection
- At the end of the shift, complete the locking up procedure & leave the building secure
Health & Safety:
- Complete health & safety checks and record the results
- Complete daily food safety check sheets
- Ensure all common areas are kept tidy and free of hazards
- Act as fire marshal in the event of a fire alarm
- Pass on any issues or concerns to managers for action
Administration:
- Update the information screen with details of the next day’s bookings
- Enter invoice details into the system
- Take messages
- Receive & record any cash or card payments from customers
- Pass on all customer feedback, positive or negative, to managers
General
- Attend staff meetings as directed
- Adhere to all health & safety policies
- Undertake appropriate staff training as directed
- Adhere to the organisation’s safeguarding policy
- Any other tasks reasonably requested by your manager
