About the Company
Bairds Malt Limited was formed in March 1999, when two existing companies, Hugh Baird & Sons Limited and Moray Firth Maltings plc, merged to form a new company. We currently operate four malting plants within the UK and produce malt primarily for the brewing and distilling industries. Approximately 10% of our malt is exported to customers around the world who want to use British malt in their brewing or distilling operations.
Our merchanting business, Scotgrain Agriculture Limited, procures malting barley for our own use and trades in barley, other grains, and related agricultural commodities.

POSITION SCOPE
The Weighbridge Operator & Administrator is responsible to the Process Manager for the efficient weighbridge operation of all malt despatch and barley intake to ensure the required levels of customer delivery requests are achieved. The position further provides administrative and practical support to site operations with responsibility for laboratory operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure correct operation and calibration of weighbridge.
- Carry out malt despatch analysis for all loads and produce corresponding certificates of analysis for contracts. Email customers with sales tickets and certificates of analysis when needed.
- Maintain appropriate weighbridge records for malt, barley and co-products to FEMAS/AUKM standards.
- Co-ordinate weighbridge ticket entry into AX.
- Assist with production administration.
- Assist with maintenance administration.
- Keep stationary stocks.
- Sample barley lorries and carry out barley analysis as and when required throughout the year and at harvest.
- Complete analysis on daily process samples.
- Preparation and dispatch of barley and malt samples to the central laboratory.
- Train, co-ordinate and supervise harvest laboratory labour.
- Preparation of Customs and Excise documentation on exports.
- Responsible for petty cash and site mail and franking facilities.
- Maintain relevant SharePoint sites.
- Manage site training requirements along with Learning & Development Co-ordinator and upload certificates to SharePoint.
- Ensure site compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and associated external and internal standards for food safety and product quality.
- Manage/issue clock cards for site personnel.
- Maintain suitable stock levels of PPE and PPE records and register.
- Maintain the Environmental, Health & Safety records including waste transfer notes and licenses.

- Laboratory experience
