Children In Care
As a social worker in the team you will support colleagues, attend group supervision and. The role includes managing a defined caseload, the social worker will be responsible for working effectively with children, young people and families/carers to achieve positive change and improved outcomes. This includes enquiry, assessment, purposeful intervention through direct work and review in relation to Child Protection, Child in Need and Children Looked After, achieving permanency through care for Children in Care, whilst acknowledging that any decision on permanency will be dependent on the Home Office decision on length of leave to remain in the UK.
Our Children in Care Teams work with children and young people who are in care up to the age of 18. Children in Care Team’s provide a high quality service to children who are unable to live at home and are placed with foster carers or supported accommodation post 16. The work includes ensuring that all statutory requirements are met and include undertaking Care proceedings, supporting children who return home where family have been identified. The team are committed to high quality work and engagement with all children in care to maximise the potential of young people. They work with a range of agencies, including Home Office, Immigration, Solicitors, Health and Education to ensure that care plans are effective.
What we are looking in you:

- You’ll be a DIPSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent graduate. Ideally this will be backed up by post-qualification experience as a children’s social worker however we could consider a social worker with transitional skills.
- Must be a social worker with at-least 3 months of experience, with a current social worker status registration in England.
- Must have working knowledge and exposure in building data models and ability to provide guidance in complex situations.
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance - for the related community and care sector.
- Ability to undertake, analyse and translate complex assessments of need, risks, and strengths.
- Ability to make clear decisions, to highlight and limit potential risks associated with intervention.
- An in-depth understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable children.
- You will be registered with SWE
- You must be a UK resident to apply for this role
- You must have a UK Driving Licence
This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential
Position Type:
Full Time- (40 Hours a week)
Part Time- (18.5 Hours a week)
