Job Description

Senior Lead Educational Psychologist for Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health

Soulbury Scale B – 3 to 6 (plus up to 3 SPAs)

Full-time (36 hours) permanent post however will consider part time (minimum 21.6 hours) applicants

We welcome diversity and multi-lingual speakers who would strengthen our service offer to our local communities.

Enfield EPS is also looking for a prospective Senior Lead Educational Psychologist to have a key role in the promotion of emotional health and mental health across schools, settings and the wider community in partnership with our lovely colleagues and partners across education, health and social care.

A central aspect to this role will be operationally leading Enfield’s Trauma Informed Practice in Schools and Settings (E-TIPSS) partnership programme. Starting in 2021, E-TIPSS involves implementing the Attachment, Regulation Competency Model (Blaustein and Kinniburg, 2019) and is becoming the key framework for promoting emotional wellbeing for children, young people, and their caregivers across our schools and settings.

This is an interesting role for an innovative EP who has experience in project work and a passion for promoting emotional wellbeing and mental health at all levels of the system.

About the EPS:

Enfield Education Services has invested in and promotes preventative initiatives which enable our EPs to work in a wide range of multi-agency teams and programmes.

The EPS has a strong focus on emotional health and wellbeing and takes a lead across several areas across the partnership such as trauma informed practice, emotional based school non-attendance, ELSAs, autism and senior mental health lead network.

The EPS offers a respected traded service with the majority of schools purchasing our service. The model of service delivery is aligned with the Assess, Plan, Do, Review approach and promotes a consultation framework whilst valuing importance of engaging in psychological work through child and family centred approaches.

The service has an established Assistant Educational Psychology Team and their valuable contribution has been recognised by service leads across the partnership which has increased the demand. The service is also broadening the role of the Assistant EP to work in partnership with EPs on traded and statutory case work.

The EPS is committed to a whole service CPD programme where we can learn, grow and reflect together. We have been focussing on the following areas: culturally responsive and anti-racist practice, dynamic assessment, trauma informed practice and autism aligned with the Autism Education Trust.

Educational psychologists are valued in Enfield and we are looking for EPs to work in our schools and settings and in various multi-agency teams.

We would like to invite applicants from educational psychologists who:

  • Have experience of applying psychology across a range of education and community settings and values a consultation model of service delivery.
  • Value multi-agency working and can form positive working relationships with colleagues within the team and across the Enfield partnership.
  • Are committed to supporting the development of educational psychology practice to positively impact on the lives of children, young people and their families.
  • Share our service commitment to developing anti-racist practice.

As a member of our team, you will benefit from:

  • A senior leadership team, committed to supporting team belonging and wellbeing.
  • A friendly, efficient dedicated administrative support team.
  • Individual and peer supervision
  • Whole service and Individual CPD
  • Opportunities to join interest groups and conversation clubs.
  • An attractive and well-appointed central office base in the Civic Centre in Enfield Town, close to shops and cafés.
  • Hybrid working and IT equipment support.
  • Free car parking to provide easy access to the team base.

Minimum requirements: Psychology degree (or BPS equivalent); professional qualification in Educational Psychology (doctorate, masters or equivalent); and registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist. Three years of experience as a maingrade educational psychologist working with a local authority context.

Enhanced DBS check is required

The successful applicant will visit settings in Enfield and outside of the borough.
