We are a private family owned business based in Lancashire with our ‘roots’ firmly in the fresh produce trade. Our organization is fast-paced, exciting, and dynamic and due to rapid successful growth, our organization is seeking a new exciting addition to the Machine Operator Team.
The Team
The Machine Operator Team are one of the larger teams on site. They are the epicenter to our operations. They are a hardworking and friendly team and are responsible for the packing of our products to meet delivery times to our customers.

The Role
· Responsible for programming machines using keyboard and terminal for the correct size, weight, codes and dates for each bag produced and run.
· Verify set up of machine; verify that the machine has been properly put back together from the hygiene team along with the scales and their proper function.
· Maintain a clean and organized working environment, practice GMP at all times
· Ensure that the products are safe and meet and exceed the customer specification.
· Communicate quality issues of raw product or finished goods to the appropriate personnel.
· Responsible for machine set up, general machine operation and change overs, start-up checks, changeover procedure and efficiency sheets.
· Responsible for the completion of all paperwork including, but not limited to, dump logs, chemical logs, downtime logs, blade inspection sheets and line staffing sheets.
· Follow and complete the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the day.
· Report and record hourly production updates.
· Responsible to perform the following quality checks:
o Percent oxygen testing (salad plant only)
o Cut quality and blend ratio evaluation
o Total volume testing (salad plant only)
o Package weight monitoring
o Seal integrity (leakers testing)
o Finished packaging temperature monitoring
o Code date verification
o Bar code readability verification
o Documentation of all results and actions
· Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
· The incumbent must be able to work 5 out of 7 days, overtime, weekends and any other times as reasonably required by the company.
· Basic mechanical and mathematical skills.
· Has the ability to write routine reports.
· Be capable of meeting all required testing frequencies (detailed, fast-paced work).
· Be capable of operating measuring instruments, such as the weight scale and thermometer.
· Be capable of performing basic mathematical calculations and use a calculator.
· Able to lift 10kg.
· Stand for the duration of the shift (8hours or more).
· Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
· Knowledge working on Ilapak, Ishida and Proseal machines.
Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:
· Bagger operation experience.
· Some PLC/Electronics knowledge.
· Ability to multitask in a fast pace environment.
· Experience meeting or exceeding high production expectations.
· Fresh food industry experience.
· Manufacturing experience.
· Past experience working in a cool environment.
· Self-motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and direction.

Hours of Work
Flexible due to order quantities, average up to 48 hours per week.
Days / Shift Details
Usually starting from 5am until 5pm. Shifts are altered according to orders.
Pay Details
£11.19 per hour.
Overtime available.
Hourly weekly paid.
1 hour unpaid break.
Contract Information
28 days holiday per year including bank holidays (12 hour days)
Auto enrolment pension
6 month probationary period
