Forensic Services sits within the Serious Crime Division as part of Specialist Protective Services and provides dedicated scientific and technical forensic support to the investigation and reduction of crime across Greater Manchester.
The successful candidate will provide an effective Fingerprint Service and will understand the importance of accuracy in all aspects of comparison, identification and evidential processing.
They will analyse and quality assess all submitted crime scene and laboratory impressions determining suitability for comparison purposes.
The ability to organise and prioritise workload and duties to meet demanding and conflicting deadlines is essential.
An aptitude for forensic comparison work utilising manual and computerised systems is essential as is the;
- Ability to work with minimum level of supervision for prolonged periods and display initiative.
- Ability to maintain high levels of concentration, accuracy, posture and attention to detail for prolonged periods.
- Ability to deal with routine queries on a daily basis while displaying a customer focused approach.
- Ability to work as a team to deliver the objectives of the unit and deliver an efficient and effective service to the customer.
- Ability to evidence good communication skills.
Please see attached shift pattern which requires working one weekend in six and attracts a 3.33 % allowance.
Please note, there is a mandatory requirement to provide a DNA sample and fingerprints, which will be used to speculatively search against local and national databases for elimination purposes.
