A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Urban Design Officer to promote the enhancement of the built environment in Chesterfield borough and provide advice and guidance on urban design matters to assist in the provision of an effective planning policy and development management service.
You would be providing design and policy advice in relation to development schemes at pre application through to post application stages and critically assessing design issues as an expert specialist. You would also be required to prepare strategies, planning and development briefs and supplementary planning guidance for the borough.
The ideal candidate should have a degree or diploma in urban design, or equivalent, a valid driving licence and have a track record of working on urban design issues. Knowledge of the Town and Country Planning Acts and related legislation and guidance specifically in relation to the built environment is essential as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills.
