Job Description
We have an attractive opportunity for a CT radiographer with excellent clinical skills. We will consider experienced staff or appropriately motivated members of staff with less experience and work through a thorough in house training program.
You will become a valuable member of a team of specialist radiographers delivering a quality led and timely CT service.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Successful candidates will work on our six GE CT scanners including the GE Revolution apex (Cardiac scanner) and GE Revolution (ED Trauma scanner).
As both a district general and regional tertiary service provider the successful candidate will be exposed to a huge variety of CT scan techniques including trauma, cardiac, colons, interventional, oncology, vascular, MSK and neuro CT. We are the region’s major trauma centre and stroke referral centre.
CT radiographers perform i.v. injections and you will be trained to do this if not already competent.
There is a CPD calendar with active participation from imaging staff and we support and encourage radiographers in their career development. We have 5 CT radiographers undertaking independent CT head reporting. and 2 radiographer running independent cardiac lists. Currently we are also training radiographers in head and colon reporting and support career development through the appraisal process.
The department takes student radiographers from Exeter University and Plymouth University, and is a training site for Radiologists, meaning that teaching is a core part of the CT Radiographers role

Derriford Hospital is a teaching hospital and provides a wide range of acute and general hospital services including oncology and radiotherapy, paediatric, neurosciences and cardiothoracic. The emergency department is designated as a major trauma centre.

Our scanners operate extended days, and there is also a commitment to this post for weekend and night working.
We appreciate that having a good work life balance is vital. That is why our shift system was developed with our staff to offer both flexibility and stability. The system is a mix of 3 long shifts (11.5 hours) and a week of short day shifts (7.5 hours). Radiographers also work twilight shifts and night shifts.
