Location: Remote, with a Hybrid option. Our office is based in Soho, London. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

Reports to: Head of CG


Job Description

As a CG Lead at NVIZ, you will be the main point of contact at any given show. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of CG and your show's VFX Supervisor. You will be required to lead a team of CG Generalists and make sure work is delivered to the expected quality. You will also be expected to pick up shot and asset work on shows.


At NVIZ, CG Generalists are responsible for several 3D tasks, from Tracking through to Lighting, often adapting to the needs of a project as it progresses and pivoting between different sets of tasks on different projects.


Key Responsibilities and Qualities


  • Task out and manage a team of around 5 artists

  • Guide and mentor junior artists

  • Work with Line Producers to ensure deadlines and milestones are met

  • Take on a diverse array of 3D tasks, including tracking, modelling, layout, look development, rigging, animation, FX and lighting

  • Expect a rough split of 50% asset/shot work and 50% managerial tasks on a show

  • Work autonomously in a fast-paced environment to deliver consistently high-quality work and troubleshoot technical problems

  • Ensure clear communication occurs at all times between artists, production and technology teams.

  • Interface effectively with artists and leads in other departments to ensure the seamless integration of work between disciplines

  • Have a creative eye and excellent aesthetic judgment

  • Demonstrate excellent communication, problem solving, organisational and time management skills

  • Have a desire to deliver work of the highest quality consistently while encouraging those around you to achieve the same standard

  • Previous experience working on feature films, episodic or full CG productions

  • Advanced technical knowledge of various aspects of CGI

  • Experience working with multiple softwares along with a strong understanding of associated directory structures, file formats, naming conventions and tools

  • Experience working in and with teams under strict deadlines


Working Knowledge of all or several of the following tools:


  • Maya

  • Houdini

  • Arnold, Mantra

  • Zbrush, Mudbox

  • Substance Painter, Mari

  • Nuke

  • 3DEqualizer
