As an Apprentice IT Technician, you will work with the Central IT Team to support and enhance our end users experience, focused on helping people get the best from the technology and tools supplied to them. We use a wide range of technology and have a number id IT disciplines supporting the IT System. You will gain experience working with Service, Data Centre, Cyber and Project Teams.

Duties of an Apprentice IT Technician:

Attend and engage with training, including exams and 1-2-1 meetings with your tutors/assessors

Manage your time effectively to complete all coursework, assignments and exams required to achieve the apprenticeship

Reflect on your own practice and experiences and take any feedback onboard
Working with the Service Operations Team
-
Acting as the first point of contact answering queries and questions from our colleagues in the business.

Supporting our Desktop Engineers team configuring computers for our colleagues to use, providing a level of in situ repair and problem resolution.

Working with our Data Centre Team, Back Up & Restore Virtual Desktop Image Management and health of system monitoring and problem resolution
Working with the Cyber Security Team

Learning how to detect potential cyber threats from our security monitoring systems – thinking about how to better protect our colleagues.
Working with the Transformation Team

Helping plan and deliver projects to improve or add new capabilities to the working environment of our colleagues.
Working with the Senior Leadership Team

Assist with pulling together of surveys and feedback from our users

Assist with onboarding and induction activities

Learn to maintain all systems and online platforms related to the training we deliver
You will complete rotations in the following departments/ teams:

The Apprenticeship
Your apprenticeship will be delivered by one of our partner training providers under the supervision of the Marshall Skills Academy. As an IT Technician Apprentice working across the Marshall group of businesses you will be following the Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard. More information on this standard can be found on the institute for apprenticeships website. During this 18 month programme you will work towards developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required through a range of on the job learning and meetings with your assessor. Not only will you develop your technical skills you will also have the opportunity to develop the behaviours needed to set the foundation for your future career. You will be supported every step of the way by our instructors, mentors, line managers and fellow apprentices. This apprenticeship aligns with professional recognition - RITTech.

You will need to have GCSE’s grades A*-C/ 4-9 in Maths and English or equivalent

In order to receive apprenticeship funding you must have the right to work in the UK and meet residency eligibility requirements

You must successfully pass all required medical and security checks if you are offered a place on the apprenticeship programme
