Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service (LMWS) for up to 12 people who are looking to progress their mental health career by training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) via a Postgraduate Diploma at IAPT High Intensity level.

We especially welcome applications from all sections of the community, particularly, BME, LGB and Trans communities and/or people with disabilities who are under-represented within LMWS. This is a core part of our service Vision & Values, as we strive to reflect the communities that we support.

The course commences on the 22nd June 2023

LMWS is a consortium of partners comprising a number of healthcare providers. The specific HI Intensity posts will be with one of the following providers:

This full time PG Diploma training programme will be facilitated by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) Psychological Therapies Training centre and will typically entail 2 days University Attendance (based in Leeds) with three days in service per week within Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service.

You will use CBT interventions to help people with a range of common mental health problemsat step 3 of the IAPT stepped care model within primary care. You will be competent andfamiliar with systems of risk assessment and case management, and will undertake regularsupervision of your clinical work.

Existing workers in Leeds IAPT have recently said they particularly enjoyed the variety of theirwork and feel well supported by colleagues and the management team.

The posts will be made permanent subject to successful completion of the training programme.

To be eligible for this post, you must have the following essential criteria – applicants

who do not meet the criteria will not be considered for the posts:

You will have a minimum of four years’ experience in working within a mental health setting, preferably within primary care, and will be a resilient, enthusiastic and motivated person who is able to cope with the demanding nature of the course and clinical practice.

You must have a core professional qualification in mental health (eg mental health nurse, social worker, accredited counsellor) or equivalent. If you do not have a core mental health profession,

You will need to evidence how you meet equivalence by completion of a Knowledge, Skills, Attitude (KSA) Portfolio which is a document that provides guidance on assembling and assessing core evidence required for training programme assessment processes. (Please see links below)

There is an expectation to have completed the ‘Self-Statement’ element of the KSA by the interview and to have this available at interview.

You will be a conscientious, reliable and resilient person who has the best interests of service

user needs at the core of your practice. You will be well organised, have a high standard of

communication and be a committed and active team worker. You will possess a high standard of

self-motivation and be able to work independently. You will be skilled in liaison and

collaborative with both professionals and service users. You must also be willing to engage in

reflective practice and clinical supervision with a focus on developing as a therapist offering CBT.
