We are not permitted by our customers to tell you who they are, but they consist of well-known British, American and German automotive OEM’s including the newer electric vehicle OEM’s, and aerospace engine and wheel OEM’s. There is a high probability the car or plane you travel on has components balanced by us!
Our machines are manufactured at our facility in Warmley, Bristol and are distributed worldwide, with our main markets being the UK, Europe, USA, China and Mexico. Universal Balancing is a part of the Burke Porter Group with 40 worldwide locations and employing 1500+ people throughout the organisation.
The Position
We are looking for a mechanical design engineer with minimum 1 - 2 years experience to join our team. You will be part of an onsite dynamic team working with specialist machinery in an exciting and highly technical environment. The successful candidate will work on various projects from the initial concept design through to final customer acceptance.
Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager you will need to be collaborative, dedicated, creative and enthusiastic.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will need to:
- Concept design of rotating precision machinery and development with confirmation by calculations or Finite analysis or similar.
- Support and problem-solve during manufacture, assembly, test
- Design & detail for manufacture including BOM creation
- Work to budgets and project timings
- CE marking of equipment
- Manage projects and work with customers as required
- Work with and consult suppliers as necessary
What we would like from you:
- A sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
- Proficient in the use of Inventor preferred but not essential as training can be given
- Fully proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Practical engineering experience not required but beneficial
- Degree/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
