We’re launching our Landsec Internships – exciting new opportunities to join our business with six months of paid work experience. It’s important to us that Landsec reflects the communities we’re part of, which is why our internships aim to give people who might not have previously considered working in the real estate industry the chance to start their career in our organisation. Landsec Internships are entry level meaning it doesn’t matter if you have any work experience, what school you went to, or if you went to university. You might be at the start of your career, or even looking for a change in career. The placements are designed to build your confidence, transferable skills and experience in the world of work, while giving you the opportunity to contribute new insights and perspectives to our business.

The role – Compliance Intern
The Compliance team at Landsec supports our business to make sure we follow all the different legal requirements that apply to the work we do, in a way that is user-friendly to different groups. As a team, we manage the organisational risk for Landsec as a whole. Our team works within the business to come up with practical solutions to different issues, meaning we bring different perspectives to our roles every day. We continuously look at how we can apply our learnings and consider what we can do differently to make improvements.
The role of Compliance Intern is the perfect opportunity for someone who is interested in a future career in Law, Risk, Assurance, Audit or Compliance. As Compliance Intern, your role would include an exciting range of tasks to build your knowledge and understanding of the important role of a Compliance team to a large commercial property business. You would get involved with lots of different projects which might include managing our response as a team to different situations or questions.
You would support in managing our data protection matters, for example CCTV footage release and managing our team inbox to support our response to questions. You would support people at Landsec by answering questions about our policies and procedures, helping them understand what they need to do and any processes they need to follow. You would also ensure that colleagues are complying with our policies by working on gifts and hospitality claims. You would have an important role in helping us keep key documents up to date, as well as supporting a project to redesign our team SharePoint site. In general, you would support the Director of Risk and Assurance and the Group Compliance Lead with a range of compliance matters, building your skills and experience in an innovative team.
We’re looking for someone who has great attention to detail, perseverance, and good written and spoken communication skills. You should have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, and good administrative skills are a bonus.

We’re looking for enthusiastic people who are ready to learn, get involved and make the opportunity their own. You don’t need to have any qualifications or previous work experience to apply for our internships, but you may be asked to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English. If you haven’t thought about exploring a career in property before, why not give it a go – we’d love to hear from you!
It’s important to us that our business is more representative of the communities we’re part of, which is why we’ve designed the programme in line with the UK Social Mobility Commission Toolkit. For your application to be taken forward, you need to meet at least two of the following eligibility criteria.
Question 1: When I was aged 14, my parent or carer (main household earner) was one of the following:
1. Someone who needed technical knowledge or specialist training to do their job, such as a technician, plumber, printer, electrician, gardener or train driver.
2. Someone whose job involved routine or manual work, or provided a service to members of the public, such as postal worker, machine operative, security guard, caretaker, farm worker, catering assistant, sales assistant, HGV driver, cleaner, porter, packer, labourer or customer service.
3. Unemployed and claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance (or unemployment benefit) for more than a year.
If any of the above answers apply to you, and you answered ‘Yes’ to questions 2 or 3, you are eligible to apply.
Question 2: When you were aged between 11 and 16, did you attend a state run or state funded school (i.e. you didn’t have to pay a fee to go there)?

2. No
If you answered ‘Yes’ to this question, and you also meet the criteria for question 1 or 3, you are eligible to apply.
Question 3: If you finished school after 1980, were you eligible to receive free school meals at any point during your time at school?
1. Yes
2. No
3. I attended school outside of the UK and this does not apply to me.
