Job Description
Our client, a well-established and successful manufacturer, are looking for a HR & Training Officer / Human Resources Generalist to work alongside an experienced HR team to provide a professional, proactive HR and training service with a significant focus on recruitment, retention and development.
HR & Training Officer - Main Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Resourcing:
- Working with the Operations Director to develop the site resourcing model as the business grows
- Ensure the site is resourced to optimum levels in line with production requirements
- End to end management of the recruitment process – job descriptions, advertising, interviewing, appointing and reference checks
Retention & Engagement:
- Carry out local benchmarking on pay, terms / conditions and employee benefits
- Develop suitable initiatives to support employee retention
- Conduct and review exit interviews for improvements
- Establish and develop suitable employee communication & engagement mechanisms
Absence Management:
- Review the absence management procedure
- Implement short and long term absence management procedures
- Co-ordinate the provision for Occupational Health arrangements
- Provide monthly absence reports
Employee Relations & Policy Development:
- Work with the wider Human Resources team to develop HR policies that are suitable for the site
- Lead on all investigation, discipline and grievance matters
- Support and develop line managers in the approach to employee relations matters
Training & Development:
- Co-ordinate the induction and training of all new employee
- Co-ordinate and provide management support on performance reviews
- Development of the site competency matrix, identifying and addressing any gaps in skills
- Support the Operations Manager in developing training plans
- Work with the local college in the development of the apprenticeship programme
- Provision of regular onsite support to apprentices
HR Systems & Administration:
- Update and maintain personnel records (paper based and electronic)
- Day to day management and monitoring of time/attendance and HR systems – adding and removing new starts and leavers, supporting managers with queries and anomalies
- Accurate processing of new contracts, new starter documentation, leavers and associated processes
- Report on key HR metrics including absence, retention, turnover and headcount
Requirements:
- Solid HR generalist with 3-5 years experience
- Significant experience with recruitment
- Relevant CIPD qualification
- HR experience gained in a fast paced manufacturing setting
- Practical working knowledge of UK employment legislation
- IT literate particularly with HR, time and attendance systems
- Excellent communicator and facilitator
- Strong organisation and planning skills
- The site operates 24/5, therefore a flexible approach to work is available
- This is an onsite role, no remote working

Salary: £28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
