Develop policy and make a real impact on decarbonisation
As the UK’s regulator for the energy industry, Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household in the UK can rely on a safe and environmentally sustainable energy supply. Now that record increases and volatility in global gas prices have put the energy market under severe strain, we need to go further and faster in pursuing the country’s climate goals and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
Joining our Low Carbon Regulated Asset Base (RAB) team focussing on new nuclear projects, you’ll develop policy to meet our decarbonisation goals, advise on regulatory and strategic issues, and help to create new approaches to financing large-scale energy investment. Working with a wide range of stakeholders across government, you’ll be part of a collaborative team of policy, finance, engineering, legal and regulatory experts, and will have the opportunity to undertake detailed development of core components of the regulatory regime.
With a focus on delivering real results, we look for people who are passionate about achieving net zero and who reflect Ofgem’s values. You’ll bring strong experience of policy development or analysis. Proven capability in the fields of regulation, economics, finance, law or engineering would be an advantage. Highly organised, creative and collaborative, you’ll be delivery focused and have experience of managing multiple priorities and meeting challenging deadlines.
Ofgem relies on having a workforce that reflects the society we serve, so we welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and especially those from underrepresented groups. While this is a full-time role, flexible working patterns and job shares are welcome. We will also support you with excellent training and development opportunities, plus a competitive benefits package.
