We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and engaging Health and Safety Undergraduate Placement to join the SHEQ team.

We offer a paid, 12-month Placement with the opportunity to progress onto the graduate scheme following your graduation. Training will include time in relevant departments offering a broader understanding of how the business operates by getting involved in interesting and challenging work.
Recent projects include; Hawick Flood Protection Scheme, Royal Wharf London, Peterhead Harbour, Blackpool Winter Garden Centre, Liverpool Football Club Training Campus, Bushmills Distillery, Buchanan Wharf, Glasgow, RAF Fairford, BMW Mini Plant in Oxford and Swindon.
Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, the H&S placement will be an integral part of the SHEQ team providing support and guidance to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all those involved in various projects. This will be achieved by becoming imbedded within the team to eliminate risks during the planning of works and engaging with the supply chain at all levels to ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety compliance is achieved.
Responsibilities include:
- Continual promotion of our health and safety ethos and culture at all levels in the Company and with subcontractors.
- Assist with reviewing working practices to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Help prepare health and safety strategies and the development of internal policies.
- Assist in the delivery of health & safety initiatives to help raises awareness of risks and hazards.
- Assist with the in-house training of managers and employees.
- Regularly attend site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being fully implemented.
- Upon request carry out accident / incident investigations.
- Assist with the investigation of accidents and incidents.

Essential
- Studying a relevant Health and Safety, Construction or Civil Engineering Degree
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to positively influence others.
- IT literate
- Ability to plan and organise time effectively
- Good attention to detail
Desirable
- A valid CSCS card
- Previous placement/internship experience in a similar role
