Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for a strategic and solutions focussed individual with project experience to join us as our Evidence & Learning Adviser - Wales where you will work with the Wales squad, community, partners and families and children. This is an 18 month contract on a 4 days a week part time pattern.


This role is based in Wales and so candidates must be based in Wales to be considered for this role.

About the role


As a Learning & Impact Adviser, you will be working on a project in collaboration with the local authority. There will be lots of face-to-face interactions as this role involves a community focused approach to supporting children and families. This role is great for someone who is confident building relationships and will be comfortable with participation with children to help find solutions and understand the challenges they face.


In this role, you will:


  • Develop and deliver data, evaluation, and learning plans to support the objectives of Save the Children Cymru projects
  • Undertake qualitative data collection and analysis with families across multiple sites in Wales
  • Build and maintain networks with Evidence and Learning colleagues within Save the Children, in Wales, and across the UK
  • Build and maintain networks with data leads from across our local partner organisations
  • Working with colleagues, develop data sharing agreements and data management protocols with a wide-range of local organisations so that the Early Learning Community can better track impacts and children's needs

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

  • Experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methods (with a particular expertise in qualitative and participatory approaches)
  • A good understanding and appreciation of the complexity and sensitivity needed when working to record outcomes for children and families experiencing poverty
  • Experience of survey design and qualitative research and presenting data in an accessible way.
  • Ability to adapt technical language to enable different audiences, including families, children and external professionals
  • Experience of using data management tools to manage and analyse data (e.g. NVivo, Power BI, Excel)
  • Commitment to Save the Children's vision, mission and values.

Ways of Working:

Remote First – The majority of our roles can be performed remotely, however you may work from the office as often as you wish. Whilst you will be predominantly working from home, we may at times require you to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). Note: This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team. This is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.


On-site – There are certain roles that cannot be performed remotely and so your role will be based in an office location and you may occasionally be able to work from home.
