Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapy Assistant/Care Manager to join the Sight and Hearing Team. Previous experience of working with adults with sight or hearing loss in either community or hospital settings is preferable, but specialist training will be provided for the successful applicant.

The team comprises of Social Workers, Occupational Therapy Assistant/Care Managers and Rehabilitation Officers for the Visually Impaired (ROVI’s) working to successfully support adults with sight and hearing loss, their families, carers, and representatives to live as independently as possible in the community.

You will need good organisational skills to manage a varied individual caseload undertaking assessment and support planning. You will be responsible for the supply and installation of specialist equipment, setting up packages of care that involves communication support either commissioned or through Direct Payments. You must be able to prioritise your work daily.

You will need to be confident with the use of basic IT systems and inputting of data. In addition, you will need to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and an understanding of the importance of multi-disciplinary working on application and at interview.

The Sight and Hearing Team are a small but supportive team, committed to delivering quality services to the population in the BCP Council area. The successful candidate can expect to receive regular 1:1 supervision, full induction programme and specialist training in British Sign Language and Deaf Blind assessment.
