Job Description
The Microbiology department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust have some exciting opportunities following a significant investment to allow the service to grow and be able to provide a comprehensive clinical diagnostic microbiology service. We have permanent posts within our Specialist Biomedical Scientists team.
The department is a recognised IBMS Training Centre with an excellent track record in producing high calibre Specialist Biomedical scientists .
We welcome applications from experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientists in Microbiology that are after a new challenge and would like to widen their portfolio of skills but will also consider those will slightly less experience provided confidence and practical familiarity with microbiology can be demonstrated. You will be trustworthy, hardworking and adaptive.
As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, your main role is to carry out routine and specialist examination of samples using various technologies and to report or present the results as appropriate. You will be expected to assist the section manager (Team Leader) in the daily operation of the assigned section including the supervision of more junior BMS and support staff. You will rotate through all sections of the service including serology, bacteriology, parasitology, molecular microbiology and mycology.
