The Company:

The Role:
The Weld Engineer is responsible for compliance with client, statutory, legal and approval body requirements for all welding activities.
The Weld Engineer provides weld engineering input to the design and manufacturing processes, reporting in to the Principal Weld Engineer.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Quality Management of welding, from bid to delivery

Compliance with codes and standards

Ensure the correct welding procedures are available

Write weld procedure specifications

Ensure the welders’ qualifications are correct – prolongation and new qualifications

Ensure that the specified welding and related equipment is available and in good working order

Control supply and storage of welding consumables

Ensure availability of specific approved documentation

Safe working practices in accordance with statutory and other requirements

Supervision of quality control procedures

Witnessing welding as required
-
Site visits to sub-contractors for inspection, witnessing, documents etc.

Assess suitability of sub-contractors for welding

Coordinate procedure and welder qualifications

Review and approval of all sub-contractor documentation
Experience & Qualifications:
You will need to be able to read engineering drawings, technical specifications and standards and liaise with client, colleagues, approval bodies and suppliers.
An In-depth knowledge of welding standards and requirements (e.g. BS EN ISO 14731, ISO 3834, BS EN 15614, EN 287, EN ISO 9606, BS 4872, ASME Section IX) is required, along with extensive knowledge of welding processes.
Previous experience as a Welder would be an obvious advantage and also a good working knowledge of materials science/metallurgy.
Experience of Quality Plan input and working to its requirements.
Health and Safety experience and qualification is desirable along with Quality Management experience.
The following qualifications would be directly relevant:

PCN and/or CSWIP Welding Inspector

European and International Welding Technologist or above

Degree in engineering related subject
The Person:
You will need to be pro-active and organised along with being a good team worker.
Nuclear manufacture experience is desirable (especially Sellafield) however experience from another highly regulated industry would also be relevant.
This role can be based in either Malton North Yorkshire or Bamber Bridge, Preston.
