Role Context:

We’re looking to recruit a senior water engineer to join our future generation of pioneering professionals. We have numerous innovative projects at the cutting edge of our industry’s technology across the globe. This is where your expertise will support our overall delivery.


Below is an overview of the projects you will work on from day one:

  • Southsea coastal scheme – we are the lead designer for the prestigious £100m, 5km-long Southsea coastal defence scheme in Portsmouth. The scheme is the UK’s largest Local Authority led coastal defence scheme and is being delivered as part of an integrated delivery team between Royal HaskoningDHV, Volker Stevin Boskalis Westminster (as lead contractor) and Coastal Partners (as client). New amenity, landscape and public realm features are included to deliver a once in a generation project that brings multiple benefits above and beyond a standard coastal defence scheme.
  • Holme Sluice Detailed design – We are delivering the detailed design for the biggest fish pass in the country which is currently being delivered in collaboration with the Environment Agency.
  • Millport coastal defence scheme - We are undertaking the detailed design for this project including multiple elements such as onshore breakwaters, offshore breakwaters, seawalls, stepped revetments. Working closely with the clients organisation and landscape architects this scheme focuses on providing an affordable scheme and much needed local regeneration in a challenging remote location.

So now you have a flavour of our Water business and how you’ll provide a real driving force in our future, let’s outline some of your responsibilities:

  • You’ll deliver successful river engineering and/or coastal engineering projects from concept, outline design through to detailed design, including preparation of works information.
  • Take the lead on a design project of varying sizes up to the construction value of £2m.
  • Have site experience as Contractor or Designer including being familiar with construction contracts.
  • Prepare technical project reports feasibility studies and business cases.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to work across a range of projects for different clients.
  • Have the ability to work effectively and be persuasive in a multi-functional project team.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Civil Engineering
  • Member of ICE or CIWEM
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or nearly chartered

The location of this role can be flexible we currently have offices based throughout the UK such as, Brighton, Peterborough, Newcastle or Leeds.
