Bedford Citizens Housing Association,BCHA, is housing and care provider in Bedford. We are a small organisation whoare committed to providing high quality care, support and housing in Bedford.We have wide range of stock including a registered care home, extra carehousing, sheltered housing and general needs housing.
The Role
BCHA is seeking experienced SeniorCarer to deliver excellent care to the residents of Bedford Charter House, our Care Home on Kimbolton Road. The successful candidates will need tobe qualified to at least NVQ level 3 and have recent medications training.
Please note all applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless medically exempt) to be able to fulfil this role.
Main duties and responsibilities:
To lead one of the care teams providing personal care and support to residents to ensure residents lead an active and fulfilling life. Contribute to the supervision and development of the care staff.
To assist residents according to their needs and wishes with personal care including washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, continence control and at mealtimes
To be responsible for the administration of drugs medication on your section and assist with ordering and stock takes.
To carry out assessments for new residents and prepare Care Plans for new residents and keep them up to date including handover notes.
To care for residents who are unwell or dying, under supervision.
To attend handover meetings for your section promptly at the beginning of each shift. To give handover.
Following training to act within the legal and regulatory requirements covering care homes, including:
Care Standards Act
Health & Safety requirements
Fire regulations
To be aware of, and comply with, Bedford Charter House and Bedford Citizens' Housing Association's Policies and Procedures.
Ensure that all visitors to BCHA receive a warm and professional welcome. Make sure that any questions received from relatives of residents are answered accurately, referring to a Manager where appropriate any questions which you cannot answer.
Reporting to the Care Home Manager any concerns regarding the health and wellbeing of residents and liaison with health care professionals including booking appointments for residents when appropriate.
To assist in providing mental and physical stimulation for residents
Assist with duties in the dining room, kitchen or laundry as and when required.
To ensure residents have sufficient toiletries, clothing etc and advise relatives when such items need replacing
Demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of SOVA & MCA requirements and work within these guidelines at all times.
To undertake training as required to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the role
