Dr Clarke’s research interest is in immune cell metabolism, and the role this plays in both normal immunity and disease. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the research activity of the group, and so develop skills in a wide range of basic and advanced techniques of immunology and metabolism. This includes flow cytometry, cell culture, bioinformatics, metabolomics, and imaging. The role will also include genotyping and maintenance of mouse colonies, and processing of human tissue samples.
You will manage your own research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues, contribute to wide project planning, including ideas for new research projects and use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment. You must hold a BSc degree/MSc (first class or 2:1 equivalent) in immunology or related biological science, have laboratory experience in immunology and be able to follow regulations around working with human tissue. Willingness and ability to work as part of a team, with shared objectives and timescales as well as experience following adapting protocols and selecting appropriate experimental methodologies is essential. Experience in handling and cataloguing human samples is desirable.
This is a fixed-term, full time position until 30 September 2024.
