The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SW ROCU) is looking for an Investigations Officer keen to progress their careers as part of our Operations Teams.
To perform and carry out the role of an Investigating and/or Surveillance Officer (when required), providing support to serious and organised crime investigations of individuals/groups affecting the communities of the South West Regional forces as allocated by the Regional Tasking and Co-ordinating Group.

Main Responsibilities:
SW ROCU is part of the national ROCU network who work hand in hand with local forces and national partners to target and disrupt criminals posing the greatest risk of Serious and Organised Criminality (SOC). This includes offenders involved in cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery and human trafficking and child sexual abuse and exploitation. SW ROCU seeks to lead and support the region working with the forces and national leads to promote consistency and use of best practice and technology.

Skills, experience and qualification required:
There are 2 entry points for this post;

Foundation – PiP1 or investigators looking to progress to PiP2 or become surveillance qualified. Training for both will be provided to the successful candidate.

Enhanced – PiP2 experienced investigator or Q1 Surveillance trained looking to join as an established member of the team.
Essential:
-
Hold a full current driving licence and prepared to become a force authorised driver.

Computer Literate.
-
Experience of researching/gathering and analysing information.
-
Experience of preparing reports/statements and written documentation.
-
Experience of supporting investigations.
-
Experience of liaising with a range of departments/ organisations/agencies.
-
Good working knowledge of current legislation and national guidelines in respect of all legislation in respect of the role being applied for (the advert will direct you to the specific relevant legislation).
Desirable:

Experience of covert surveillance work.

Experience of disclosure and associated legislation.
-
Experience of exhibit handling and continuity/integrity issues.
-
Experience of dealing with matters of a confidential nature.

PIP1 and or PIP 2.

Vetting and safeguarding
This post is a subject to a higher security clearance at MV and SC – Management Vetting and Security Clearance Level.
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

Police Barred and Advisory lists
Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the police for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
