Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant will build relationships across the Trust to enable business partnering, supporting decision-making through analysis and contributing to the overall mission, vision and values of the Somerset House.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Provide financial reporting and analytical support, including:
- delivering high quality, accurate and fit-for-purpose management reports to a tight deadline, including monthly management accounts
- interpreting and analysing financial and non-financial information as part of the management reporting process, offering insightful commentary as required
- monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring outstanding queries are resolved promptly
- Assisting the Finance Manager to deliver accurate and robust budget/ forecast/ three-year plans including intelligent analysis, to a tight timetable
- Assist with year-end processes, analysis and queries from external auditors
Business support and analysis
- Delivering other ad hoc reporting and analysis for all departments as required, including post-event evaluations using financial and ticketing data
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships and levels of customer service across the Trust, championing a responsive and ‘right first time’ approach
- Supporting the Finance Manager in the development of the finance system in relation to management reporting and analysis
- Assisting in maintaining and improving our internal controls and processes as the finance function continues to grow
- Carry out any other reasonable duties, in line with role requirements.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Training towards a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 1-year experience of management accounting and reporting processes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present numbers to non- financial colleagues
- A team player with a flexible, “can do” attitude, taking initiative to solve problems
- Strong organisational skills; able to manage a varied workload, able to work independently and prioritise tasks.
- Having a “continuous improvement” mind set, questioning processes and investigating better ways of working within the role
- Highly motivated, with the willingness to get more involved as time will allow
- Working knowledge of accounting software packages
- Intermediate Excel skills (SUMIF, LOOKUP, Pivot tables)
Contract type: Permanent, Full time
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, plus 8% pension employer contributions
