JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Manager for Valkyrie Supply Chain is responsible for ensuring supply continuity into Valkyrie production and manage stock, free issue parts and change management including launch of model derivatives.
You will be responsible for leading a team of Material Planners, a Coordinator and launch/data/inventory analysts along with a team of contractors to deliver parts to production. The Senior Manager needs to ensure the team resolve supply issues and escalate risk suppliers which require support and leadership to improve delivery performance. The Senior Manager is responsible for managing the team and 3PL with stock control, inventory management, invoice queries and engineering change along with the process to launch model derivatives during the life of the Valkyrie programme.
The Senior Manager is also responsible management of departmental KPI’s and activities to improve department performance and supplier delivery performance. 3PL (DHL) management is also part of the role including warehouse, transport, and kitting process.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing a team of people (Internal and external consultants supporting supplier improvement activities).
- Parts availability to support build to minimum stock levels against production schedules or bespoke ordering process.
- Working with production to minimise the impact of parts supply issues on the production.
- Coordinating complex supply routes with suppliers who manufacture sub-assemblies for production including free issue parts supply from tier 2 into tier 1 suppliers.
- Identifying and leading suppliers affecting supply or production build process.
- Managing inventory (c. £40m) and stock control in the warehouse and lineside.
- Managing engineering change content and reducing obsolescence with support of other departments (e.g. stock control, rework, etc).
- Budget management and working with finance to calculate forecast spend.
- Reporting the production and pre-production status at production reviews daily and the weekly senior management reviews identifying risks to build actions or support required.
- 3PL (DHL) to control warehouse inventory, incoming parts, parts picking/kitting/sequencing, transport collections, change management implementation.
- Managing external consultants who have the responsibility to improve a supplier overall performance for parts delivery at the required quality then unlocking any quality, engineering, commercial, supply issues and coordinating support when needed from stakeholder departments.
- Managing the resolution of BOM issues with the programme team and engineering.
- Investigating using a cross functional team to resolve supplier invoice queries to prevent commercial issue escalation.
- Supporting the team to deliver the ERP change over from Goldcrest to Infor.
- Managing the new model launch lead person to implement new content using the supply chain tools including PFEP, BOM validation, open-to-go, etc and manage/resolve concerns escalated in the process. Report the programme status at the LCM (part of the weekly senior management status review) & gateways as required.
- Working closely with programme management team, production, quality, engineering, purchasing, IT, finance, accounts.
- Responsible for department budget & Valkyrie working capital.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- New model launch experience is essential.
- Material planning experience is essential.
- Knowledge of customs requirements for rest of world and EU (Brexit) essential.
- Degree or Higher diploma qualified or equivalent preferable.
- Previous experience managing tier 1 suppliers and supplier performance improvement.
- Knowledge and experience of 3PL and warehouse management.
- Team management capability is essential.
- Use of ERP/MRP systems.
- High degree of MS Office knowledge is essential (with emphasis on Excel).
- Automotive product knowledge desired.
- Automotive manufacturing experience desirable.
- Ability to communicate, together with the ability to work accurately and efficiently, taking resourceful action during periods of considerable pressure.
