Job description
We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Supply Chain Manager within the In-Service Submarines team, based at MoD Abbey Wood, Bristol.
In this multi-faceted role, you will be the lead for the Materiel Planning Team and all Supply Chain activities, management and improvements supporting in-service submarines.
Leading a core team encompassing civilian and Royal Navy personnel, you will ensure efficient and effective logistics planning support, policy management and governance oversight for the UK’s submarine fleet.
Part of a wider enterprise that enables the submarine fleet to undertake its operational tasking, you will lead a team that support supply chain planning and delivery of submarine Base Maintenance Projects (BMP) and the Deep Maintenance Projects (DMP), while also driving the supply chain initiatives to improve delivery of our outputs.
This role is based in our offices in Bristol and in-office attendance will be expected as required.
Due to the security requirements, the position is open to sole UK nationals only.
About the role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
· Work closely and collaborate with stakeholders across the submarine support enterprise, including key Industry Partners, to ensure supply chain activity meets customer requirements in an effective and efficient manner.
· Lead a small, committed, team of supply chain and operations managers to provide supply chain support to submarine maintenance period planning and delivery, using and governing materiel planning processes.
· Promote best practice and proactively lead improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain performance within the submarine enterprise, in line with business objectives.
· Lead and exploit use of data and management information to understand and govern supply chain performance; manage contractor performance; drive team delivery of outputs: and enable positive long-term sustainable improvements to the wider supply chain.
· Lead Supply Chain Management strategy and assurance within the SDA’s In-Service Submarines team.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
· Strong leadership and people management experience.
· Advanced stakeholder management skills at all levels, both internal and external to the team.
· Proven organisational skills and experience of delivering Continuous Improvement in a demanding operational environment.
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:
· Experience of working within an Operational Support supply chain management environment.
