Opened in 2011 G Live, Guildford is a landmark building. With inspirational architecture, light-filled foyers and a programme incorporating the best in live music, big name comedy, dance and classical, G Live is truly a venue for everyone. We also host community events and functions including conferences, parties, and weddings.

About the Role
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the kitchen operation at G Live. Providing a range of operational support including food preparation and cooking, receiving and storing deliveries and cleaning the kitchen effectively. The role also provides porter services to the wider food and beverage operation through receiving bar deliveries and providing other support as required. There is a group support chef provision who will lead on larger scale events, although the post-holder will be expected to deliver smaller events and the daytime offering.
This is an operational, hands-on post which will require cooking, lifting, detailed cleaning and competency in stock handling.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operational
- Successfully manage food production, maintaining consistent food standards and quality across all areas of the venue’s food offer.
- Ensure all operational areas are properly prepared and stocked for every service.
- Ensure all equipment within the operation is adequately maintained through monitoring, due care, and diligence.
- Ensure ordering is completed accurately with nominated suppliers and that stock control procedures are adhered to.
- In collaboration with the Hospitality General Manager, meet overall business, profit and service targets through understanding and developing the venue’s visions and aims.
Financial
- Undertake responsibility for delivering stock taking of food on a monthly basis.
- Budget and wastage control targets through planning, management, intervention and reporting.
Administration
- Ensure efficient kitchen administration systems are developed and adhered to.
- Adopt a reactive and flexible approach to planning, prioritising, and implementing day to day kitchen administration duties relevant to the job role.
Health & Safety
- Ensure the venue always strives to achieve and maintain a 5 star EHO food safety rating.
- In conjunction with the Hospitality General Manager, ensure appropriate quality control measures and hygiene practices are at all times implemented and achieved in accordance with health and safety legislation and Company policy.
- In accordance with the Company’s Food Safety Management Policy, participate in the HACCP procedure, ensuring correct adherence to the KRB, including cleaning rotas, and closedown procedures.
- Dress in accordance to the companies dress code, wearing the correct PPE where required
- Undertake appropriate training and development when required.

Your Experience:
ESSENTIAL
- Able to follow instructions and carry out delegated tasks accurately, effectively and within given timeframes.
- Flexible attitude.
- Demonstrate reliability and good time keeping.
- Previous food preparation/food handling experience.
- A working knowledge and understanding of all current Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation, rules and regulations.
DESIRABLE
- Food hygiene certificate.
- A professional background within a hotel, large scale contract catering and/or conference and events environment.
