Working Hours: Monday – Friday with occasional weekends and evenings

Serco’s Environmental Services provide a complete waste, recycling, and street cleansing service on behalf of the residents and local communities. With a professional, dedicated, and friendly team, our environmental staff ensure that our streets, homes, and businesses are kept clean, safe and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to the community that we serve.
Right now we are looking for a Social Value Officer to support with the community/ charity engagement strategy within the Sandwell Region, as well as helping the contract to improve its social value output and to improve community recycling participation.
Reporting to the communications manager you will identity opportunities to engage with local communities and groups around the services we deliver. We are looking for you to be a front-line educator to Sandwell residents, by developing and supporting behavioural change campaigns that encourage and promote good recycling behaviours.
This role will include;

Identifying and ensuring environmental issues such fly tipping and waste containers are left on the highway are monitored and recorded

Engaging with and creating opportunities with stakeholders

Identity, investigate and resolve customer complaints and enquiries

Identify positive PR opportunities and support press and media enquiries.

What you’ll need to do the role
This role will see you completing contamination, excess waste, and preliminary educational visits so the ability to drive or have access to transport is essential.
You will to be someone who can use their passionate about the environment and making a difference to create and produce material to engage and promote positive change.
You will use your previous working knowledge from similar roles within communications or social values to complete data interpretation and identify areas of improvement.
