Role

This is an exciting opportunity to continue to develop and shape a new team in the new People Directorate.

TPR’s People Directorate has brought together its frontline people services encompassing business partnering, first line customer advice, employee lifecycle administration, and ER services into one team.

TPR’s People Directorate is delivering a transformation, which is resetting the function following both the experiences of the pandemic; and the introduction of TPRs People and Culture strategy, which will drive significant changes in the scale and nature of HR support needed by TPR.

As Head of Partnering and People Services you will report to the Director of People and Culture, leading one of the most important parts of the HR transformation ensuring that we deliver and embed an excellent service and partnership approach. Ensuring our customers are at the heart of our approach.

Experience of operating at a senior level is vital for the role holder, demonstrating your ability to work with others to identify issues, opportunities and risks but also have knowledge and experience of finding tangible solutions to meet business and customer needs.

You will be required to deputise for the Director of People and Culture both within the organisation and when working across the regulatory family and the pensions industry.

Job description

You will:

  • Lead and inspire the People Services & Partnering function and develop a high performing team.
  • Lead and manage the People Partners to develop and embed a strategic business partnering model, with the primary role to collaborate, influence and enable business leaders and their teams to deliver their priorities through effective and expert People Planning
  • Lead and manage Subject Matter Expert leads with responsibility for operations of their functions
  • Lead the review and on-going enhancement of the Employee Relations capability within the People Directorate and across the organisation, ensuring the practices, policies and ways of working are fit for purpose and up to date with employment legislation
  • Work with People Directorate Management Committee to evaluate and improve the employee experience by developing and implementing policies, procedures and practices which align to the deliverables of the People & Culture Strategy and TPR’s culture and values
  • Work with People Directorate Leaders to review and improve the employee and service value proposition which meets the needs of the organisation and delivers effective and efficient solutions to all users
  • Lead the review of existing HR systems and technology in collaboration with the People & Culture Strategy Programme recommending improvements including digital solutions that will assist the strategic People agenda and enable best practice and continuous improvement
  • To work in partnership and collegiately across the whole People Directorate to drive credibility with the business and deliver an excellent customer experience to all TPR peopl

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Substantial evidence of successful generalist experience at this level in a complex organisation working across the full employee lifecycle
  • Experience of managing and overseeing complex employee relation cases and tribunals, working with unions and employment lawyers
  • Demonstrable leadership and management experience, including identifying and improving policies and procedures and ways of working to ensure high quality services are delivered
  • Experience of designing/developing/contributing to People strategies and translating strategy into action through team performance and objectives
  • Experience of working in close collaboration and forming strong relationships with leaders, managers, and stakeholders
  • MCIPD or equivalent
