Main Purpose
You will provide postal services within the post office for the base organizations and personnel assigned to RAF
Mildenhall. These duties will include loading and unloading mail from all modes of transport, sorting and pitching mail, delivering parcels to patrons, separating mail bags and processing mail by sack and distributing personal mail to individual US postal service lock boxes.
This is a fixed term contract projected to last until 01 March 2024, depending upon budgetary constraints.
Knowledge and Experience Required
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
Knowledge of or ability to learn numerous regulations, instructions, policies, and procedures pertaining to all types of
Military Post Office receiving and sending transactions.
Knowledge of or ability to learn the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of Postal Service transactions.
Skill in handling various types of mail and parcels sufficient to determine correct assigned mail receptacle, or parcel location and to identify misplaced mail and parcels.
Ability to effectively communicate orally with a diverse group of individuals, and provide prompt and courteous customer service.
Ability to operate a range of mail room equipment
Ability to use office automated systems and software
Must have the ability to exercise alertness, composure, and good judgment in conducting transactions with customers.

Other Important Information
- Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
- Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential
- A 6 month probationary period will be required
- Overtime may be required
- Will be required to observe US Federal Holidays in lieu of UK Public Holidays.
- No annual leave will be authorized between 15 November and 15 January, except in cases of emergency which must be approved by the Commander.
- The role requires a pre-employment physical. Required to lift up to 70lbs.
