Working in the Residue Analysis department at Eye, Suffolk the responsibilities of a Laboratory Support Technician include:

  • Clean and dry laboratory glassware.

  • Order internal & external supplies and lab consumables.

  • Proactively manage consumable stock levels.

  • Monitor the temperatures of storage areas.

  • Dispose of laboratory waste according to proper procedures.

  • General housekeeping to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of laboratory area.

  • Assist with and supervise sample receipt, storage and disposal.

  • Prepare and process samples for designated studies, supervising where appropriate.

  • Analyse samples for assigned studies.

  • Setup analytical runs on appropriate instrumentation.

  • Increase theoretical knowledge of analytical techniques by using CHROMacademy.

  • Assist in the checking of analytical data.

  • Clean and maintain allocated work areas and equipment in line with departmental procedures

  • Accept responsibility for the condition and maintenance of allocated equipment.

Education:

  • A-level Chemistry (or equivalent)

All training will be provided in this role however the successful candidate must have excellent communication skills
