What are we looking for?
Someone who is wanting to develop their career in Design, have a passion for fashion and a desire to add value to all our stunning collections.
You must have the ability to prioritise and organise your day and adapt to change. You must be an excellent communicator to all levels of the business.
You must be confident in presenting your findings and idea’s as well as applying the knowledge and experience gained from previous roles. Someone who will support across all functions within your area.
The Role?
To assist the designer in producing an exciting, innovative, commercial collection that exceeds customer’s expectations and optimises profitability of the brand.
What skills do you need?
Customer & Brand Awareness
- Work with designer to clearly identify and understand the brands core customer, market position and key competitors.
- Produce competitor photographic reports.
Product Development
- Collate and present trend research
- Identify key fabrics, colours and shapes with designer and produce mood boards for presenting to team.
- Assist in the collation of colour palettes, fabric and trims packs to send with design tech packs to manufacturers for sampling
- Work on design technical packs to produce commercial innovative designs to be sampled by manufacturer partners.
- Assist in managing the fabric library, trim library, and general organisation of design room
- Work with international hubs and manufactures to understand capabilities of manufacturing to produce factory friendly designs
Product Management
- Work with team to manage option requirements and work with designer to produce a balanced range.
- Manage sample development critical path and understand how lead times are affected by country of origin.
Quality & Fit
- Work with quality team to understand the health & safety requirements on children’s wear and take into consideration when designing new styles.
- Understand blocks and measurements for designs in order to get a right first time sample.
Stores & Sales
- Communicate with buying and merchandise team weekly to be able to identify best & worst selling lines at product level and ensure that the learnings are applied back to future designs.
Systems
- Sound knowledge of different design systems (Adobe Suite) and Microsoft Office
Design Skills
- Possesses an excellent eye for detail
- Good level of understanding of commercial pattern cutting
- Excellent technical drawing skills
- Demonstrates a passion for fashion, knowledge of designers and flair for developing product.
- Ability to identify key trends, shapes, colours and looks and pull together to make exciting collections.
Personal Skills
- Ability to use initiative to work independently.
- Excellent organisational skills and personal time management.
