Applications are invited for a Research Associate in development and application of chemical profiling methods in environmental samples, utilising state-of-the-art hyphenated chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques within NERC funded project entitled: 'Quantifying the combined nutrient enrichment, pathogenic, and ecotoxicological impacts of livestock farming on UK rivers (QUANTUM)'.

This position will be based in Environmental Chemistry and Public Health Research Group at the University of Bath. It will focus on the development and application of mass spectrometry methods to aid understanding of fate and effects of veterinary pharmaceuticals discharged.

The overall project, led by the University of Bristol in collaboration with the University of Bath, Bangor University, Exeter University and Lancaster University, will focus on furthering knowledge in understanding livestock farming as a key driver of changing UK quality in the livestock-dominated catchments of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and throughout the north and west of England. This new knowledge will help us create models that can better predict how UK freshwater quality functions in the presence of these multiple stressors, and how it is likely to change in future in response to climate change and mitigation efforts into the receiving environment.
