About this opportunity
Junior Broadcast Engineers provide system support, maintenance and operational assistance for all the Red Bee Media operation. Engineers are responsible for liaising directly with the customer, assuming ownership of issues through to resolution, carrying out the diagnosis and solving of all technical issues, escalating to Shift Lead Engineers or other senior members of the team in order to achieve this.
Engineers provide monitoring and management of circuits between Red Bee Media and their Third Party providers for contribution and distribution circuits, through both facility line and Satellite facilities.
You will be required to provide support to their team and will need to work to an agreed shift rota which includes nights, weekends and public holidays.
What you will do

Ensure performance specifications are met and maintain the technical standards and parameters of the equipment and systems within their care. This will include ensuring that approved change controlled modifications are carried out as required

Prioritise work, seeking guidance from the Shift Lead Engineer during demanding times

Maintain comprehensive records and logs of work done using incident management tool, on the installation, modification and repair of systems, following appropriate change control for all non break/fix planned work

Carry out routine maintenance work as defined and agreed with the Shift Lead Engineer

Critically assess technical quality and performance, extracting and analysing system logs where available or escalating to Shift Lead Engineers to progress where necessary

Line up and prepare outside sources for transmission and record feeds

Liaise with 3rd Parties over contribution issues and live/amended deliveries, ensuring agreed media delivery format is adhered to

Respond to customer incidents and proactively diagnose and resolve issues with the supported systems
You will bring

Interest, passion and konwledge of broadcasting - video formats, protocols, encoding standards

Degree in a technical related subject or equivalent experience in this field

Knowledge and experience of Windows and Linux operating systems

Knowledge of databases (Microsoft SQL server) and networking technologies

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with different levels and audiences

The ability to use and update formalised knowledge management systems
