SLR Consulting’s established team of Environmental and Social Safeguard experts is looking to grow its already strong team of social experts. SLR has an exemplary track record with international funding institutions (IFI’s) (e.g. EBRD, AFD, KFW, IFC, ADB), commercial banks and project developers in the mining, power, infrastructure, industry and oil and gas sectors. SLR is increasingly singled out as a preferred bidder on large multi-national Environmental and Social Impact Assessment projects in Eastern Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Southern America.
The team is therefore recruiting qualified social safeguard specialists at graduate level to respond to the industry’s increasing desire to address social risks and impacts.
The role
You will work closely with the broader team to provide project delivery support to our internationally-focussed team of professionals to deliver a range of projects to the highest standards. These projects are usually located in developing countries so frequent travel to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America or Asia will be required. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to work under the guidance and mentorship of SLR’s world-class team of highly respected social professionals.
The work will involve working as part of a team of in-house and external technical specialists and contributing to the production of a range of high-quality technical reports.

About you
You should have a relevant social, rural development or applied anthropology degree and knowledge of some principles of Social Impact Assessment / Resettlement. You will also need a desire to build a successful career within this exciting international field.
You should also:
- Be committed to developing skills and knowledge relating to the international standards applicable to social safeguards (due diligence and impact assessment). This includes confidence in applying the Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Guidelines, and other international lender guidelines as applicable.

Be familiar with qualitative and quantitative methodologies for socioeconomic data collection.

Have strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Have an ability to work as part of a team under the direction of senior team members and working alongside internal or external consultants.
