Logistics/Dispatch Manager
R & K Drysdale are recruiting for a logistics/dispatch manager to work on our site. This role is crucial in the day-to-day operation of the business. Previous experience in logistics or in a dispatch environment is required, experience within a fresh produce background being preferable but not necessary.
The job will be predominantly office based; however, the candidate must also be able to oversee the daily running of the dispatch area and contribute towards the department, meeting required productivity levels and quality standards. The successful candidate will have daily roles such as helping process orders, pick lists for the department and stock control of trays for production. The candidate will also learn how orders are generated and spend time training with other members of the team.
The factory works 7 days a week, so management of staff and personnel hours with a degree of flexibility is key, however this also means a level of flexibility for the right candidate.
The salary on offer is circa £35,000 per year, dependent on experience with a generous holiday package of 30 days per year.
The primary job roles are detailed below and will include the following:
Logistics
- Track and account for all incoming and outgoing products.
- Confirm proper and timely dispatch and delivery of products.
- Coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of goods
- Perform various inventory counts; order supplies and goods as needed.
- Co-ordinate dispatch delivery notes and manifests
- Check actual amounts dispatched and destinations are correct
- Liaise with hauliers to arrange timely collection of goods as well as raising any issues with delivery vehicles to the hauler
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and production
- Tray stock control for production
Department
- Supervise forklift operations including the safe operation of fork lift trucks; conducting daily vehicle safety checks and completing records accordingly. Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment
- Maintain warehouse and machinery, ensuring equipment is serviced when needed and a clean and tidy workspace is always kept
- Motivate and lead warehouse staff to effectively carry out given tasks, seeing set targets are being met and monitoring their performance. Arranging the staff for early/late loading and unloading of vehicles
- Load dispatched goods onto collection vehicles;
- Seek continual improvement in key target areas - productivity, efficiency, waste reduction, quality and costs.
- Highlight any noticeable quality defects
- Maintain up to date training records for staff
- Ensure that all personnel have the correct PPE and that it is always worn, and any additional PPE is ordered.
- Plan staff shifts and holidays
- Arrange staff recruitment for busy periods
- Write out picking list for dispatch to work from
- Palletise products on NetEDI to generate pallet labels
- Check correct labels are being applied to pallets
Personal
- Undertake additional training as identified by your line manager
- Comply with all company regulations
- Be health and safety aware and report any issues
- Ensure dispatch and sales order administration is up to date
- Enforce company rules and disciplinary procedures
- Making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
- Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
