Health Care Assistant - Gloucestershire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two or more experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join Upper Thames Medical Group as a Health Care Assistant, with a full-time role available at each of our sites.
Our Practice
- We are based at two sites, the Park Surgery in Cirencester and Lechlade Medical Centre in Lechlade. Both practices are soon going to become part of the Inspire Healthcare Group.
- Our practice population across the two sites is around 12000.
- Collectively we are a team of 3 Partners, 6 salaried GPs, 1 Practice Manager, 2 Deputy Practice Managers, an ANP, Nurses, HCAs, physiotherapists, pharmacist, pharmacy technician and an excellent administrative team and we also work very closely with a frailty team. We pride ourselves in providing excellent patient centred care, continuous service improvement and a team-based approach. Care, compassion, and humour are very important to us.
- Cirencester is a vibrant and attractive market town, and the surgery is a short walk from the centre of town. Lechlade is a beautiful small Cotswolds town with a great sense of community.
- We use SystmOne and are CQC rated “good”.
The Role
You will be undertaking a variety of tasks in support of and supervised by of one of our Registered Nurses. These will include:
- Undertaking health check screening
- Simple dressing of wounds
- Performing ECGs and 24-hour ECGs
- Undertaking venesection
- Running INR clinics using finger prick testing
- Measuring and recording health data such as blood pressure, height, weight and smoking status
- Smoking Cessation Clinics.
- Carrying out diabetic foot checks
- Checking and maintaining stock levels and equipment checks
- Contributing to quality improvement processes and audits
The Ideal candidate
In addition to being technically competent to undertake the above tasks with the minimum of supervision, the ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients is very important. Maintaining confidentiality and the possession of basic computer skills are vital. Whilst you may not be technically proficient in all the above areas, full training will be provided.
