SPT is currently delivering a £288m Subway modernisation programme to improve the customer experience and secure this iconic public asset for future generations. The programme includes the introduction of new Subway trains, a new signalling system and a new Operations Control Centre. As work on Subway modernisation continues at pace this year, we will be strengthening our Subway Operations Training team to ensure all our Control Room staff are trained and competent in the new systems introduced by the programme.
About the Role
The Glasgow Subway Operations Control Centre staff will be responsible for managing the safe working of rolling stock, signalling systems, traction current and maintenance.
As a member of the Subway Operations Training team, you will assist the Operations Delivery Officer and Head of Service Operations & Security (Subway) by creating, developing, planning and tracking training for all Operations Control Centre roles, with a focus on controllers. You will create and deliver other training as the modernisation programme progresses and work collaboratively with the training team to ensure that all Subway Operations staff are trained and competent in the full functionality of their roles. You will guide trainees in the day-to-day operation of the new Operations Control Centre systems.
About You
SPT is now seeking to recruit a Training Officer (Operations Control Centre) (Fixed Term for 24 months) to support the training programme. The ideal candidate will have experience of designing and delivering training and some experience or coaching/ mentoring. You will be confident in learning and operating new technological systems and have the skills required of a controller, such as an ability to prioritise tasks, apply a logical approach to problem solving and make safe decisions under pressure. We are seeking a highly motivated team player who can consistently deliver operational targets through collaborative working with colleagues.

Please note, this position falls into the high-risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random & for-cause testing procedures.
Contractual hours will be an average of 35 hours a week Monday to Friday although you will be required to attend outside of office hours to align training activities with work patterns when required, with some dayshift and weekend working. You will be based in the Operations Suite, Govan Subway, Glasgow.
