Job Description

Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and influential individual with impressive communication skills and a proven record of working in a fundraising / sales environment and managing high level external relationships to join us as our Philanthropy Manager. In this key role, you will work with trust and foundations to build strong relationships and raise money for programmes in the UK and round the world.

About you

Working as a key member of our four-person Trusts team, and as part of the larger Philanthropy and Strategic Foundations team, our successful candidate will support the Senior Philanthropy Manager – Trusts to drive and implement our ambitious strategy to grow Trusts and Foundation income and help achieve the Partnerships & Philanthropy Department's ambitious target. We will count on you to manage a portfolio of medium to large existing and new trusts and foundations through a variety of personalised and creative approaches, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, events and written and oral communications.


In this role, you will:

  • Actively drive trusts new business, using a wide range of methods
  • Provide excellent stewardship to thank and engage donors with Save the Children's work
  • Produce high quality written proposals, tailored specifically to inspire and captivate donors and trusts
  • Work closely with the wider trusts team to develop and continually evolve a strategy for developing successful relationships with mid to high-level trusts
  • Contribute to the Trust Team's ambitious annual financial targets and forecasts
  • Provide insight and advice on the best approaches in trust fundraising and input into the wider Philanthropy and Strategic Foundation's team strategy.


To be successful, it is important that you have:

  • Experience of working in a fundraising / sales environment or similar experience where comparable skills can be used to work with potential high-level funders and supporters
  • Good problem solving and numerical skills, including budgets, financial reporting and forecasting
  • Strategic thinker with good understanding of current trends in the sector
  • Understanding of supporter databases, data protection and fundraising best practice
  • Impressive interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A commitment to Save the Children's vision, mission and values.

Ways of Working:

Remote First – The majority of our roles can be performed remotely, however you may work from the office as often as you wish. Whilst you will be predominantly working from home, we may at times require you to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). Note: This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team. This is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.


On-site – There are certain roles that cannot be performed remotely and so your role will be based in an office location and you may occasionally be able to work from home.
